Opening Week in Vail

Black Tie Vail's Team

The Black Tie team in Vail are excited with the kickoff of ski season!

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks here in the Vail Valley – with Vail officially opening on November 22nd, followed by Beaver Creek on the 27th. Both resorts started the season on a good note, with significantly more open terrain than we’ve seen in years past.

This past weekend saw the women’s alpine world cup circuit come through town with the unveiling of the new Raptor course on Beaver Creek. Downhill, Super-G, and Giant Slalom were run on the new course November 29th – December 1st. Vail local Mikaela Shiffrin certainly gave the home crowd something to cheer about – taking 2nd place in Sunday’s Giant Slalom.

The fun and excitement doesn’t stop there, however, as the men come to town this week for the Audi Birds of Prey world cup races at Beaver Creek. The men will be running Super-G, Downhill, and Giant Slalom on December 6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively.

This time of year is always exciting here in the Vail Valley, as there are plenty of events and happenings scheduled at both Vail and Beaver Creek for the next few weeks. Along with the past and upcoming World Cup races, Beaver Creek has its annual Winterfest scheduled from December 21st through January 4th. Winterfest is full of daily parades, performances, music, and activities for children. Just down I-70 in Vail, their annual Snow Daze will be happening from December 9th through the 15th. Snow Daze consists of daily sponsor expos and is highlighted by back to back nights of free live music with Rebelution on Friday the 13th and Matisyahu on Saturday the 14th. With snow in the forecast – highlighted by Tuesday night’s prediction of 6-10 inches – this season is already off to a great start. The crew here at Black Tie Ski Rentals’ Vail & Beaver Creek location is certainly looking forward to another great season of skiing/riding, snow and, of course, making your rental experience as effortless and convenient as possible.
